Lantern Festival - A Performance

Dear friends, this might be one of the most interesting performances we’ve ever presented – you will get a rare glimpse of intricate Taiwanese Nanguan music combined with the serenity of traditional Pear Garden dance movements... presented by HKU Department of Music on 1 November, 7:30 p.m., Loke Yew Hall. October Meeting Minutes and Pictures

The League of Women Voters, Hong Kong Chapter, met Monday, October 10, 2005 at the home of Helene Paul.

Beth Hall, League president, welcomed everyone and introduced the Board members. She also welcomed new members Debra Joyce, Robyn Tucker Peck and Claire Mueller.

Beth shared with the group a scrapbook from the original League of Women Voters Hong Kong. Their first meeting was Sept. 21, 1977 with 7 members.

Helene Paul, Special Events coordinator, announced that the League would have a factory tour into China during the second week of November. She will send the date and details to the members soon. [Ed. Note: Please see previous Post for the detailed information].

Cindy Carver, Membership and Cyberspace coordinator, announced that photos from last year and the September 13 meeting are on the League website
http://lwvhk.blogspot.com/ . The next meeting is Tuesday, November 8 with Penny Ning Pan presenting the program. Hostess for this meeting TBA.

The December meeting will be a luncheon on December 13 at “The Verandah” restaurant in Repulse Bay.

Rick Paul of Mast Far East, the sourcing division of Limited Brands, was the speaker. Rick’s topic was “Textile Business in a Quota Free World”.

Special Event: Garment Factory Tour

Special Event Announcement!
Luen Tai Supply Chain City, a garment factory in Southern China.
Wednesday, November 16, 2005

Meeting place-- 8:15 a.m. TST Star Ferry
(Duration of trip-- approximately 2 hrs from TST to the factory)
-- Tour from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
-- Lunch 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
-- Depart China approximately 2:30 p.m.
-- arrival "approximately" 4:30 p.m. at TST Star Ferry
Please understand that these times are estimates only. We can not guarantee the return time.
***Please remember you must have a current China Visa***

The factory is supplying several vans to transport us to and from the Star Ferry, TST side. We are limited to 16, so first come first serve , League Members unless we do not fill the space.
