League of Women Voter’s
Monthly Meeting
January 9, 2007


The Monthly Meeting of the League of Women Voter’s was held at Ocean Park on Tuesday, January 9, 2007.

Susan Wallace opened the meeting by introducing our guest speaker, Suzanne Gendron, Director of Zoological Operations and Educational Department of Ocean Park. She is also Director of the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation and the Hong Kong Society for Panda Preservation. The group was treated to a tour of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Giant Panda Habitat and a “behind the scenes” tour of the Sea Jelly Spectacular. A Power Point presentation regarding Pandas and the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation was presented for the members attending.

Afterwards, we were hosted to an ice skating performance before we transferred to the “Top Deck” at the Jumbo Restaurant to finish up unfinished League business. Susan Wallace presented a donation from the League to Suzanne Gendron for the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong. Marti Law volunteered to host the February 13th, meeting. No new business was discussed.

December Holiday Luncheon

League of Women Voter’s Meeting – December 12, 2006


The League met today at the Disney Hotel on Lantau Island. Janet Mager introduced our Host, Peter Lowe, Vice President of Sports & Recreation Operations. Mr. Lowe provided us with an overview of Disney’s business philosophy, followed by a guided tour of the property.

Beth Hall, Vice President thanked Janet Mager for organizing our day and an extraordinary lunch at the Crystal Lotus. Photos from the December luncheon can be found here (click on Disney Land Hotel Dec. 2006 ).

Beth announced our next meeting would be held on January 9, 2007 at Ocean Park. Our Speaker will be Suzanne Gendron, Curator for the Ocean Park Pandas.
